All non-II teams have the right to participate, including teams from France's Overseas departments and territories (Guadeloupe, French Guiana, Martinique, Mayotte, New Caledonia, French Polynesia and Reunion).



4016 teams enter the competition:

- all 20 Ligue 1 teams;

- all 20 Ligue 2 teams;

- all 17 National 1 teams;

- all 53 non-II National 2 teams;

- all 134 non-II National 3 teams;

- 11 qualifiers from the Overseas departments and territories;

- 3761 qualifiers from lower levels.



The National 3 teams enter the competition directly at the 3rd Round.

The National 2 teams enter the competition directly at the 4th Round.

The 17 National 1 teams enter the competition directly at the 5th Round.

The 11 teams, representatives of the 7 Overseas departments and territories enter the competition directly at the 7th Round.

The 20 Ligue 2 teams enter the competition directly at the 7th Round.

The 20 Ligue 1 teams enter the competition directly at the 32th Finals.





Knockout stage:

7th Round:

144 teams from the 6th Round, 12 overseas qualifiers and the 20 teams that enter the competition at this stage are drawn into 88 pairs.

Winners are decided over one leg, with extra time and penalties if score is level after regular time.

Hosting is determined by the draw.



8th Round:

88 teams from the 7th Round are drawn into 44 pairs.

Winners are decided over one leg, with extra time and penalties if score is level after regular time.

Hosting is determined by the draw.



32nd Finals:

44 teams from the 8th Round and the 20 teams that enter the competition at this stage are drawn into 32 pairs.

Winners are decided over one leg, with extra time and penalties if score is level after regular time.

Hosting is determined by the draw.



16th Finals:

32 teams are drawn into 16 pairs.

Winners are decided over one leg, with extra time and penalties if score is level after regular time.

Hosting is determined by the draw.



8th Finals:

16 teams are drawn into 8 pairs.

Winners are decided over one leg, with extra time and penalties if score is level after regular time.

Hosting is determined by the draw.



Quarter-finals:

8 teams are drawn into 4 pairs.

Winners are decided over one leg, with extra time and penalties if score is level after regular time.

Hosting is determined by the draw.



Semi-finals:

4 teams are drawn into 2 pairs.

Winners are decided over one leg, with extra time and penalties if score is level after regular time.

Hosting is determined by the draw.



Final:

The two Semi-finals winners meet each other with the winner becoming Coupe de France winner.

Winner is decided over one leg, with extra time and penalties if score is level after regular time.

The match is played at a neutral venue.



Qualification for UEFA competitions:

winner: UEFA Europa League

* - if the Coupe de France winner qualifies for the UEFA Champions League, then no team from the Cup qualifies. The best placed Ligue 1 team, not otherwise qualified for the UEFA Europa League, earns the spot instead.
